Mission accomplished. No banner draped across the airship tho. We don’t like gloatin’. Heh.
We got the call, finally. Was gettin’ worried there. Bosses had been gone awhile. Somehows, they ended up over in the heart of Vaasa, at the Last Tree. Weren’t easy, but we slipped in undetected, mostly, for the pick-up. Some of the stuff they dragged onboard has me curious. Headin’ home now.

Guess they mopped the floor with that Sarshan freak. Literally. Liquified him. Heh. Kinda gross, actually, to hear it. Weirdo was mixin blood with Elemental Chaos ooze, usin it to power some automatons he built. One of the piles o’ junk they dragged onboard used to be what Sir Peter called an Eyebeam Peon from their Battle On The Tower Rooftop. We’ll take the pieces back to HYDRA, let the lab rats nose over them. Maybe somethin useful can be gotten outta this weird technology.

Enna‘s scoutin’ ahead, looks like she’s flyin’ back this way now. Buck says he sees her too, and she’s spotted Overlook. Good, homeland at last.

ettercaps, actually...

Bad day. Found another crypt, covered in webs. Two web-spinning humanoid monstrous things called ettercaps laired there and the Red Hand had been feeding them to help guard the place. Found the remains of the Captain of the guard in their webs…

Found a room with a weird portal, seemed to be semi-functional. A distant castle amidst thick fog and swampland could be seen. Touching the portal released the room’s guardian, an oozing blob. When fighting here attracted the attention of nearby spectres, things got ugly.

Getting past the hobgoblins and goblins guarding the entry rooms wasn’t very hard.
The team found their way down into an old crypt, guarded by a glyph-trapped floor and swarms of needlefang drakes.
Continuing to search the under-crypts, team is jumped by gnome skulks and weird magma creatures.

What came next was an unwelcome surprise, undead! There are undead down here that the goblins are feeding the captives to!

Into the Catacombs

HobgoblinsCouncilman Troyas takes the HYDRA team to the Town Square, where a hobgoblin that was captured during the attack is beong held in the stocks for public display. The HYDRA agents are allowed to interrogate him. He resists, of course, but via skillfully combining intimidation and diplomacy, the thug finally caves. He reveals that the attack on Brindol was by a band of goblinoids, led by their Chieftain, Sinruth. They are claiming to be the Red Hand, even thought the Red Hand last attacked this region 30 years ago. Their mission was to attack the Hall of Great Valor to steal back artifacts kept in the museum there from the previous Red Hand Wars. they also were instructed to kidnap humans and their like, to “feed” the guardians of their lair, the catacombs under the ruins of Old Rivenroar Keep.

The team set off and track Sinruth’s retreating army thru the wilderness to the ruins, but are jumped by a family of kruthiks en route.

Finding the ruins, the team locate an entrance to the catacombs below. The first chamber is guarded heavily by hobgoblins!

Graduation Day

The Heroes are graduating from their study programs at the legendary HYDRA Academies!

Rescue at Rivenroar will be their 1st Mission together as the newest team of HYDRA agents:
Team is sent to Brindol to investigate an unusual attack on the town’s museum, the Hall of Great Valor. Six Residents of the town have gone missing. Clues indicate that the Red Hand may be returning!

The team is jumped by goblins on the King’s Road while traveling south toward Brindol. Easily enough to handle, but goblins this bold? And this far from Dunwood? Something’s not right.

Team arrives at Brindol to find it under attack. Team races into town and battle hobgoblins and their ogre that is throwing burning oil kegs around, setting the town ablaze!

Brindol’s newest Councilman, Eofram Troyas, is a combative, overly assertive half-elf with seemingly good intentions. He praises the team’s timely arrival and they tell him HYDRA sent them. He interviews them and seems to become more trusting and enthusiastic about their investigating events in the area.
